You’ve heard the old saying the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Well, we know you already have dad’s heart wrapped around your pinky, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore his sweet spot! Sure you could take him out to dinner or cook him his favorite meal, but here are a few edible ideas that will make this Father’s Day even more memorable.
Get Him Cookin’: No, he doesn’t have to prepare his own meal on his special day, but we’re guessing he might like to learn a few tricks of the trade in his very own cooking class. Seek out a culinary school in your area or hire someone to come into your kitchen to teach him basic techniques.
Book a Few Meals: For the dad that’s into his own DIY dinners, there’s nothing like a great cookbook to get him going. Consider Mark Bittman’s How to Cook Everything for beginning cooks, while experienced home chefs may prefer tapping into culinary trends like pickling, smoking and slow cooking.
Give Him a Game: No interruptions. Set up dad in front of his favorite ballgame and serve up a sandwich board of his favorite Plainville Farms deli slices, cheese and some fresh bread. Make sure you’re on standby to prepare refreshments, so he never has to leave the comfort of his favorite recliner.
Set Him Up with a Smoker: We’re not talking cigars. The latest, greatest in manly culinary arts is no longer the grill, but in an egg shaped smoker. Paired with a Plainville Farms Turkey (or even a few turkey legs) and a variety of woodchips, this toy will give dad a whole new delicious hobby this summer.
Spice Up His World: There must be thousands of hot sauces in different markets these days. Good news is that they all taste great on turkey tacos, grilled turkey or a simple turkey sandwich. Start dad off with a hot sauce collection of his own this year by selecting about 5-6 different styles including a super-hot habanera, milder green jalapeno, smoky chipotle, peppery Cajun spice and an authentic Mexican blend. If you find he uses them it, replenish his collection annually to keep the love going.
